What inspired you to start your company?

I wanted to see growth. I wanted to help others. I wanted to build a nice life for my family.The best way for me to do that and achieve my own personal goals was to do something myself that I could influence the outcome and the income.

Why Canada?

The great media visionary Israel Asper once said, why not Winnipeg to run a global company as he started the Global Television Network in Winnipeg. That is why they created airplanes.

Though we are based in Manitoba, our team of 400+ is global. With employees all over the world, we are 100% remote. Our unique, virtual work model improves the lives of all of our team members on several levels. They are able to spend more time with their children, spend less time commuting and have the ability to focus on results in the comfortable environments of their own homes. What was the first job someone hired you for?

Selling Something. Literally that, just selling something. I started in sales.

Which work or brand are you best known for?

The entire country of Canada and beyond knows ICUC manages and moderates the CBC comments. It is controversial and high profile.

How has the business changed since you started?

We have 40 x more people. The volume of content that the world creates and contributes never fails to amaze me and the growth we have experienced is a big change. The business is less risk averse and more open to dialog instead of censorship.

What emerging tech trend will have the biggest impact on your business?


What advice do you have for agency producers or creatives?

Be real and stay on focus. Too many agencies and creatives try to do too much when they could win even more by focusing on a core ability or strength. Less is always more.

What do you make of the trend where brands are skipping their agency of record to work directly with production partners?

It is inevitable. Why do you need all of the additional overhead of an AOR? Technology has changed everything.

What is the best thing about working at ICUC?

The culture.

Where is the best bar in Winnipeg?

Not Telling. It is our secret 😉
